Cermet is an advanced class of material consisting a hard ceramic phase along with metallic binding the combined advantages both and metal phase. The superior properties this materials are particularly useful in high-temperature, tribological, machining applications. This review paper seeks to provide comprehensive overview various cermet systems. More specifically, most commonly used systems based on tungsten carbide (WC), titanium (TiC), carbonitride (TiCN), aluminum oxide (Al2O3) discussed their development, properties, effect different binders composition tribological mechanical these elaborated. common processing techniques for systems, such as powder metallurgy (PM), reaction synthesis (RS), thermal spray (TS), cold (CS), laser-based additive manufacturing discussed. influence parameters each case evaluated. Finally, applications challenges summarized.
